Treat each assignment as a separate entity and give it a start date and a finish date.

Second Year Show - Business Card Assignment
In preparation for the exhibition in October, you will need to create a business card for yourself.
The standard dimensions are :
90mm x 55mm.
You don't have to adhere to this, but remember that you want your card to be able to fit into a wallet or a business card holder. The ones that don't do this can tend to get lost.
As an illustrator, your card should give some indication of what you do!
You can use an existing piece, part of an existing pice or you can create something specifically for your card.
The copy on the card should include your name, some way that people can contact you and a website or blog if you have one, so that people can see some of your work.
You should put plenty of thought into the design of your card, as it is probably the way that most people will be introduced to your work, so make it look fantastic.
I will inform you of dates for when this should be finalised in coming weeks.

Semester 2
As we discussed in Semester 1, the rest of the year will be devoted to the creation of a folio of work which you will use when you go out into the marketplace.
The most important thing to keep in mind is that the work should be the very best you can do. When you are showing your folio to potential clients, you will be competing against lots of other people so you work must be the best it can be. You should aim to create work which is, individual, creative and professional.
The folio you create in second semester will contain
a minimum of 5 pieces
but you can do as much as you want. Just remember that 5 great pieces are better than 10 reasonably good pieces.
As we also discussed in Semester 1 you should aim at developing a folio which you think will best represent the kind of work you would like to do in your coming career.

It is now up to you to begin developing a folio which you think will best represent the kind of work you would like to do in your coming career.
You can create a folio which is very strongly similar in terms of style and theme or you can create a series of works which display a variety of skills and styles.
You will need to create one more piece to complete your folio for semester 1. This will give me an idea of how your semester 2 folio will look.
In Semester 2 you will create at least 5 pieces but as many as you like if you want to create more.
Just bear in mind that you have the time to make sure your work is just right, so don't rush to fill a folio with lots of OK stuff. Take the time to fill it with the very best work that you can do.
As usual you will show me sketches for all your work before you proceed to final artwork.
